Helen Mason - Director of Unitarian College

Helen brings 17 years experience at Senior Management level in Education to the role. She is responsible for implementing the strategic direction of the College across all four strands, ensuring the College becomes financially self-sustaining in the next three years and leading the rest of the staff team to develop curriculum, maintain quality and support students.

Ant Howe - Senior Tutor

Rev Ant Howe is the Ministry Tutor. An experienced Unitarian Minister, Ant served the Kingswood Unitarian Church for over 14 years before moving to Unitarian College. Ant is responsible for coordinating the delivery of Ministry training, supporting students, and tracking the progress of Ministry students through their programme. He also offers training and input on Unitarian College’s Lay Training courses.

Michael Dadson - Placement Assessor

Michael Dadson - Placement Assessor

Michael Dadson, retired Unitarian Minister is the Placement Assessor. Michael is responsible for planning placement activity with Ministry students and observing them at work in their placements to assess how they are meeting the ministerial competencies.

Rev Winnie Gordon - Tutor/Assessor

Rev Winnie Gordon - Tutor/Assessor

Rev Winnie Gordon has been the Minister at Birmingham New Meeting for 9 years. With a background in education and over 13 years of  experience on the Worship Studies Course Team, Winnie is delighted to be supporting the College. She is part of the team delivering Unitarian College curriculum, supporting Lay Worship Leadership students, tracking their progress, and observing them leading worship.

Rev Melda Grantham - Tutor/Assessor

Rev Melda Grantham - Tutor/Assessor

Rev Melda Grantham is a Tutor/Assessor supporting students in their placement congregations, helping them to identify opportunities to provide evidence of their skills through observing and assessing their progress. She also contributes as a tutor both for students and for some of the Lay Worship Leadership training courses.

 Jenifer Brenner has been involved with the UK Unitarian movement for the last 23 years, and has a background in education administration and marketing. Jenifer looks forward to answering your initial enquiries, meeting new students and ensuring you are comfortable and ready for learning.

The content of the course is incredibly rich, covering a vast spectrum of topics, using various methods of teaching and student engagement. The ministry training programme perfectly balances being “down to earth” on one hand, and “looking up to the heavens” on the other, placing emphasis on the practical application of the acquired skills, knowledge and insights in the 21st century British Unitarian congregations. The staff went above and beyond to ensure that we still get the same rich learning experience under the restrictions posed by Covid.
